With this years National Apprenticeship Week coming up, the theme for 2019 is Blaze a Trail, aimed at highlighting the benefits of apprenticeships not just to employers and individuals, but also to local communities and the economy.
Running between 4th – 8th March, NAW2019 will be celebrated across the country by everyone involved in apprenticeships, helping to showcase the exciting prospects of both training as an apprentice and employing an apprentice.
Last year’s National Apprenticeship Week was the biggest to date, with 780 events hosted around England, and included a huge variety of sectors. One sector seeing a particular rise in apprenticeships is financial services, with employers realising the benefits of employing an apprentice and the positive impact it can have on organisations. Employers are seeing more flexibility when looking to develop an apprentice in their organisations, particularly the ability to train an existing member of staff through the professional training without the hassle of trying to recruit. Having a wider age bracket has also given employers a broader scope to train the staff they want to help develop their business needs.
Employers who are keen to embrace the apprenticeship route to boost their organisation should look to ensure they find the right provider to help fulfil their requirements. Training providers who specialise in particular industries will have the expert knowledge and experience of the sector to provide the best possible assistance in employing or upskilling a team member. Providers should also be able to assist with drawing on government funding where available and help, where needed, with finding the right apprenticeship candidate to fit in with specific requirements.
Sesame Bankhall Group’s recent partnership with financial services apprenticeship specialists Simply Academy shows that matching with the right training provider is important. Working with firms across Sesame, Bankhall and PMS, Simply Academy are delivering tailored apprenticeship schemes to meet the needs of each individual advisory firm to ensure their apprentices are on the right track to become professionally qualified
